History

Let's start with the fact that the musical style, which we know as klezmer, is actually called "klezmer" by Moses Beregovsky, the ethnomusicologist from Kyiv, one of the biggest researchers of Jewish folklore in the world.

In our time, regular klezmer music festivals (klezfests) have been held in Kiev since 2000, mainly in the format of master classes for performing traditional music and concerts in closed spaces for specialists, experts and members of the Jewish community.

In 2018, on the initiative of Diana Popova, Director of the Department of Culture of the KCSA, our NGO "Social Capital" launched a large klezmer open air festival - a modern, open to the world and aimed at the future.

The world stars became the headliners of the first festival. In total, 15 thousand spectators visited KKF-2018.
